SmartBookshelf FAQ
Answers to the most common SmartBookshelf questions about bookshelf photos, crop mode, accounts, and scan quality.
Common questions
What kind of bookshelf photo works best?
One shelf level per photo, taken straight on, with readable spines and low glare. A close, level photo usually beats a full-room shot.
When should I use crop mode?
Use crop mode when you cannot retake the picture. It can help isolate a shelf section, but it usually lowers accuracy because it throws away resolution.
Do I need an account to scan a shelf?
Yes. SmartBookshelf currently uses a free account or Google sign-in before sending a shelf photo to the scan pipeline.
What if some book titles are wrong?
Treat the output as a reviewable catalog. The system is meant to save most of the typing, then let you correct the misses that come from glare, angle, or hard-to-read bindings.
Who is SmartBookshelf useful for?
Home libraries, textbook shelves, technical book collections, resale prep, research shelves, and anyone who wants a faster shelf inventory.
